The Short Answer

What is a thread lift?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive lifting treatment. Fine, biodegradable threads are inserted under the skin with a thin cannula. Small cogs or barbs on the threads hold the tissue and lift it into a higher position, giving a visible lift on the day. Over the following months the threads dissolve, and the body forms new collagen around them, which helps the skin stay firmer.

There are no incisions or stitches, and most patients return to work the next day. Results typically last around 12–18 months, and longer with some thread types. A thread lift suits mild to moderate sagging; for heavy jowls or a loose neck, a surgical facelift usually gives a stronger, longer-lasting result.

At The Beauty Plastic Surgery we offer PDO, PLLA and PCL threads, as well as the clinic’s own Long-V lifting, a thread technique designed to define the jawline and cheek contour.

FAQ

Thread lift in Seoul: frequently asked questions

How long does a thread lift last?
The threads dissolve within months, but the lift and collagen effect typically last around 12–18 months. PLLA threads can last up to about 18 months and PCL threads 2 years or more. Results vary with age, skin quality and lifestyle.
What is Long-V lifting?
Long-V lifting is the clinic’s own thread lifting technique, developed in-house to define the jawline and cheek contour. Your physician will explain whether it suits your face at consultation. You can see examples on our Long-V lifting results page.
Does a thread lift hurt?
Local anaesthesia is used, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Mild tenderness, tightness or swelling for 2–3 days is normal.
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is short. Most patients return to work the next day. Mild swelling, small dimples or slight bruising can occur and usually settle within days to about a week.
Thread lift or facelift — which should I choose?
A thread lift suits mild to moderate sagging and gives a subtle, temporary lift with quick recovery. A surgical facelift, such as a deep plane facelift, is better for moderate to advanced sagging and lasts much longer. We offer both, so your surgeon can recommend honestly.
Can I fly after a thread lift?
Most patients can fly after 2–3 days, once the first check is done. Sleep on your back, avoid pressing on your face and keep hydrated during the flight.
Are there scars?
No incisions are made. Threads are inserted through tiny entry points that usually heal without visible marks.
What are the possible side effects?
Possible side effects include swelling, bruising, temporary dimpling, asymmetry, a feeling of tightness and, rarely, infection or a visible thread. These are discussed at consultation and managed by your physician.
Do you have English-speaking staff?
Yes. Consultations are available in English, Chinese and Japanese, and you can contact us on WhatsApp before your trip.
